History
It's a short story spanning fifteen years --- the story of four Web pioneers that led the digital marketing revolution.
It started when Marlene Matheson, Vic Spindler, Mike ZeMans and Dana Todd tapped the potential of the Internet back in 1994. At the time, Netscape was still an unknown company and Yahoo! was known as "Jerry's Guide to the World Wide Web". They realized companies would need help bringing their offerings to the Internet. SiteLab, known as Bien Logic, became a driving force as an innovative Web site developer and Web application designer.
One of the first Web portals (1994, PlanetEarth.net) was designed by SiteLab. The second banner ad (1994) ever designed was created by SiteLab. The first Web-based chat room? SiteLab. CyberCash "Micropayments", circa 1996. We were on the beta team, and we helped many companies in the early years to develop online payment systems for e-commerce. We sponsored and organized San Diego's first "Internet SIG" in 1994, and many local and national visionaries participated. We earned our stripes in the field, not in a classroom.
In 1996, it became clear to SiteLab's management that merely building Web sites was not enough to satisfy clients' long-term marketing needs. The Internet growth was exponential and sites were already competing for audience attention. It was decided the best way to serve our customers' future needs was to become a full service interactive agency, offering a broad suite of integrated marketing and engineering services designed to build brands and enhance visibility on the Internet.
Since then, we have maintained our pioneer position and leadership by embracing search engine optimization methodology, so much so that each new site development project we do includes a keyword strategy, and we discuss with clients the tradeoffs of design elements vs. search visibility. Our online advertising campaigns and unique application development are customized to specific marketing goals. We are a "soup to nuts" solution for clients who do not wish to maintain an inhouse Web team, or a trustworthy partner to supplement inhouse resources.
